Becoming exchange student may become the best thing ever in my life. I never
imagined before about going to USA and becoming ambassador of my country, Indonesia . Now, I can see it as my dream which comes true. It’s like
the greatest gift which God gave to me. I am so glad to become exchange student.
During my
exchange year, I have to live with my host family. Firstly, l was afraid
because I will live with the people who I never know before. As time goes by, I
realized how lucky I am. I have the best family ever. They are such a real
family for me. They always threat me as part of their family. We have so many
great times in our home, like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Beside
host family, there are other people who can make me smile everyday. They are
obviously my friends. I have many new friends in my new school, Appleton West. I am really happy to have them
because they always welcome me although I such a new person for them. Actually,
this is very different with my first paradigm. Before I come to USA , I thought American is so individual and I was afraid not
to have friends here. But, my paradigm was wrong. They are so awesome and
friendly. Moreover, they were so excited when I had presentation about my
country. There were so many questions came out from them. I felt so happy and
satisfied because I can share my culture to my friends and teachers in USA .
Not only
American friends, I also have friends from many different countries in the
world, such as Moldova , Italy , Pakistan , Spain , Thailand , etc. They are all exchange students and we have the same
exchange program named PAX. They are all very friendly and easy going. It seems like I am lucky because I don’t have to
visit many countries to get the friendship.
All of my experiences in USA make me sure that I will never forget my exchange year. Meeting new people from different part of the world make
me know many things. I learn how to adapt with new situation and get along with
it, respect people who have different culture, and how to do good communication
to build mutual understanding between me and other people. In another words,
this exchange program make me become an open minded person who can create
better world.
