As we all know that Jakarta becomes the hottest issue
because of its flood disaster. Almost all sites in Jakarta attack by floods. Water,
which lack before become the most familiar thingy over citizens now. Not good
quality of water, but the opposite. Not only about poor water, this terrible fate also made other bad effect for
the victims, such as hunger, dysentery and poor sanitation.
As I read Jakarta Post Headline about Jakarta’s flood
disaster, it seems so sad to see the victims of floods in our
capital. They are really need help from
us to relief their sadness. However, they still struggle to face up this
annually problem. They do
survive to keep their life go on. Instead, they have taken shelter in Transjakarta
bus stops beside others
evacuee in low-rent apartment building. These places will be their temporary
home while waiting for the waters to
recede. Aid already comes from everywhere,
including Indonesia Red Cross (PMI), several private companies, and
government.
Based on my opinion, I think this annually disaster is
just like the same mistake. Why I said? Because Jakarta always hit by floods
which is happen every year. Moreover, the Jakarta citizen always evolved in
number. The urbanization always becomes trend, make bulk of flats and there is no
more green area to absorb water when monsoon rainfalls come. Not only that, the
dirty condition also makes water arise. People in Jakarta are too lazy to
process the rubbish well. They don’t throw it in the right place and produce a
mountain of rubbish everywhere every day.
Government also have a big responsibility since they
can’t finish to construct an underground water canal connecting
the Ciliwung River and the East Flood Canal (BKT). As I read before that Jakarta Governor, Joko
“Jokowi” Widodo explained that the government had discussed the
grand plan long before, but had never made it a top priority until massive flood. It shows that government need to wait until the problem come and
they’ll work diligently. It’s so ironic, right?
“Then, how if the flood disaster already happened?
What should we do?” maybe these questions climb up when I become the victims.
The answer is we just have to learn something, ‘avoid the same mistakes’. We should aware that
environment is very important to support our life. It will be worse if flood
comes, so we must keep it clean every time. We also have to do small reforestation in our surround.
It will be useful to prevent water arise when hard rainfall comes.
We also can see Government job
improvement in this
situation. They should
aware that they have to work extra to prevent this annually problem to be
happen next time. Good project is needed to manage flood
in Jakarta. Not only having a good project, they also have to make it real by
work it as soon as possible.
On more, as I heard from many people
that the capital of Indonesia should move from
Jakarta to other places because this flood disaster, I don’t agree at all.
Being move the capital in other places, it means that we run out from the
problems, not solved it. It will be
better if we have courageous to say “We can make a change. We can solve it. We can make a betterment
future of Jakarta”
